Mr. Gavin Green serves as the Assistant Director of Bands for the Ozark School District. A native of the River Valley, he is a graduate of Fort Smith Southside High School. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education – Instrumental from University of Arkansas–Fort Smith, graduating Magna cum Laude. In Ozark, he works with students across grades 6–12, building a unified vertical curriculum that supports consistent musical growth and development across all levels.
During his time at UAFS, Gavin performed with numerous ensembles, including Wind Ensemble, Athletic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz and Rock Lab, Orchestra, Jazz Catz (vocal jazz), and the Leonis Chamber Singers. His diverse performance background reflects a passion for music across a wide range of styles and settings.
Gavin has taught musicians across Arkansas and Oklahoma in grades 6–12. Prior to joining the Ozark School District, he served as Percussion Coordinator at Trinity Catholic School and Southside High School, where his students consistently earned Superior ratings at Solo & Ensemble contests. He also maintains a private percussion studio, with many students earning placements in All-Region and All-State Bands. Multiple students have earned scholarships through college auditions, and others have gone on to perform with DCI and WGI ensembles.
He is also the founder of the annual CSA Snare Drum Camp in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he works with students in grades 6–12 and emphasizes the development of strong fundamental snare drum technique.
In addition to his work as an educator, Gavin is a nationally recognized composer and arranger, creating music for schools and organizations across the United States. His compositions have been featured nationwide in marching bands, percussion ensembles, pageants, and competitive cheerleading programs, including significant work for Varsity Spirit and the National Cheerleaders Association.
